Wastrel Gathering today! Ahh well… technically, I’m the only wastrel in the group. Oh well… Wastrel “E”, Missy Wastrel “S” and I,Wastrel got jobs now… Wastrel “F” was MIA today.

Back from the Fantastic Four movie #2 today, with Wastrel “E” and Missy Wastrel “S”. I already knew the movie is kind of crappy, but still went ahead and watched it anyway! Hey there’s Silver Surfer! (And Jessica Alba, too, but… Surfer’s cooler!)
No synopses here, since you can Wiki the entire storyline if you want to. In short, the movie is born of Hollywood magic (and scriptwriter) and has many, many inaccuracies (or differences?) from the comic. And Surfer is not emo, unlike the comic series! He’s actually darn cool, with something like 10-15 lines of dialogue throughout the entire movie! And oh, where’s that “To me, my board!” line?
And how cheaply Galactus is being made! Clouds? Hello? I was expecting the typical incarnation of Galactus to Earthlings… ie that purple-helmeted humanoid. Not clouds! Perhaps the movie makers spent too much money on doing Surfer’s animation and decided to cut cost and make Galactus just clouds instead. Duh!
Other than that, the movie’s actually quite… ok. 3 Wastrel Stars out of 5.
And we got dinner settled at Sumo House. Touted as the cheapest Japanese restaurant in Singapore. I ate that $2.90 Katsudon set with free green tea. It has quite a few items – Katsudon (pork in egg and rice), two slices of oranges, miso soup and some preserved veggies. It’s cheap in price, and also cheap in quality too. Fills the stomach but… something’s just missing. As Missy Wastrel “S” points out, “fills the stomach but doesn’t leave you satisfied.”
Today, Four Wastrels “R”, “E”, “F”, and “I”, together with new Wastrel “H”/”W” went out for a steamboat dinner! It’s that 重庆正宗老火锅 store opposite Shaw Tower. We got chicken soup and tom yam base soup. It was yummy… from the look of things, we’re mostly fans of tom yam…
After dinner, we went for a walk at Bugis Junction and settled for Big Milk Shakes at Terra cafe. Two strawberry ones, two chocolate ones and one coffee one.
Wastrels I,E,R,F went out for dinner at Jurong Point on 03 May 2007. Basically it is a trip just to explore the furthest west end of the east-west line and to catch up on what have been happening lately. Hometown to wastrel E, he was quite delighted to have us there. We went for a walk inside Jurong Point and had our dinner at a Halal foodcourt at the basement. Jurong Point is basically the same as all other town’s shopping mall except it has alot more crowds with hordes of students and army personnels hanging out at the cafes; due to the university and the camps nearby.
After dinner we went to MacDonald’s and had our game of Ludo on DS. I finished last … oh well. We also played Texas hold -em on DS, which was quite fun too, with me winning quite a handful of games.
We concluded the day by shopping at the Pasar Malam near the bus interchange of Jurong West. Where we got our bite of Ramly burgers and Wastrel E had his cup corn, because he wasn’t feeling well.

A note on the burger: It is not one of the best I have tasted, but not one of the worse either, it’s an average Ramly burger. Today our luck is so-so. Hope for a better Ramly store next time!
