Worst fears came though I had been expecting this. UOB decided to discontinue its UOB VISA Electron Debit Card and all other debit cards in June 2008. It is a wonderful card for poor peasant like me who can’t get a credit card. Basically it’s a NETS+ATM+debit card. And it could even be used for online transactions….all these with no annual membership fee.
The inferior UOB NOW Card will be replacing it….. basically it’s a EZ-Link card+ATM+debit card. Why would I need another EZ-Link card? Now i got 2 in my wallet!!! Every auto top-up at MRT stations will cost a service charge of 25cents!~ And what’s with the ugly card design? It’s screaming ‘UGLY’ instead of ‘NOW’ to me. All these with $18 annual membership fee…..
